Born from real-world business experience
Behind the Brand with Bryan Elliott is one of the original pioneers in long-form content, created 6 years before NPR's How I Built This. The focus: storytelling and purpose to help founders, entrepreneurs and small business owners grow their brands.
Bryan worked his way up from the bottom of the career ladder and earned experience in brand marketing across multiple industries. In December 2007, after 10+ years at startups, ad agencies and big brands, he resigned from the brand marketing and strategy team at Universal Pictures in Hollywood, where he managed projects and P&Ls of up to $40 million.
The plan was The Goodbrain, a hybrid brand strategy consultancy and full-service production company. Clients and projects lined up. He had a skeleton crew in his garage, a young family and almost zero savings. There was no Plan B.
Nine months later, in September 2008, Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy. Contracts, budgets and clients disappeared overnight. Bryan went back to his brand strategy roots to solve his own problem. The solution was Behind the Brand, which launched in 2009.
The purpose has stayed the same: extract business and life lessons from the smartest, most innovative and creative people on the planet. Bryan decodes their stories so you can turn their wisdom into practical tactics for your life, business, brand and community.
Bryan stays in the trenches as the eyes and ears of his audience. He runs The Goodbrain full-time along with several other business investments and ventures.
